PRESS RELEASE ON THE POLAR MUSIC PRIZE 2001

The POLAR MUSIC PRIZE was presented on Monday the 14th of May 2001 for the tenth consecutive year.
The Prizewinners this year are Burt Bacharach, Robert Moog och Karlheinz Stockhausen.

The prize money is one million Swedish Crowns (approx US$ 100.000, € 110.000) to each Laureate.
They received their Prize from His Majesty The King of Sweden during a nationally-televised ceremony
at Berwaldhallen, Stockholm.


The Polar Music Prize is the world’s most unique and prestigious prize and was founded by
Stig ”Stikkan” Anderson through the donation he gave to the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.


Each year, two Prizewinners are acknowledged but as the Prize celebrates its tenth anniversary
this year, three Laureates were being welcomed to Stockholm.
